Abstract:
A food processor appliance for cutting food articles into a desired form, includes a housing having a feed chute a pusher member for pushing food articles through the feed chute into the housing; a cutter device within the housing mounted for reciprocatory movements transversely across the outlet end of the feed chute for cutting food articles, fed therethrough into the desired form; and an electrical drive unit including an electrical motor removable from the housing to facilitate cleaning the cutting device. The electrical drive, unit includes an interlock electrical switch normally disabling the drive unit but actuatable to enable it, and the feed chute includes an actuator laterally thereof for actuating the interlock electrical switch, and thereby the drive unit when the drive unit is located in its proper position the top wall of the housing.
Abstract:
A cooking appliance includes a base (10), and lower (20) and upper (30) cooking plates pivotally mounted to the base (10) such as to permit: (a) the upper (30) cooking plate to be pivotted to an open position with respect to the lower (20) cooking plate for introducing and removal of food articles between the cooking surfaces of the two cooking plates, (b) the upper (30) cooking then to be pivotted to a closed position with respect to the lower (20) cooking plate for contacting the food article between the cooking surfaces of the two cooking plates; and (c) both plates to be pivotted to any desired angular position with respect to the base (10) for drawing fluids from the food article while being cooked between the cooking surfaces of the two cooking plates .
Abstract:
An appliance for extracting juice from food articles includes: a housing having an inlet feed tube (6) for feeding food articles into the appliance, and an outlet (10, 11) for outletting juice extract from the food articles; a pusher rod (7) for manually pushing the food articles through the inlet feed tube; (6) and a rotary cutter disc (8) rotatable about a central disc axis and including a plurality of cutting edges projecting from one side of the disc facing the inlet feed tube (6) for cutting the food articles into a pulp saturated with juice when a food article is pushed against the cutter disc (8) by the pusher rod (7). The cutter disc (8) includes, on the side thereof facing the inlet feed tube (6), a projecting pinching surface (20) projecting outwardly of the cutter disc (8) and located eccentrically with respect to the central disc axis such that when only a thin sliver of food article remains between the pusher rod (7) and cutter disc (8), the projecting pinching surface (20) presses the thin sliver against the pusher rod (7) sufficiently to effect a slight rotation of the thin sliver with respect to the cutter disc (8), and thereby to better assure the complete cutting up of the food article into pulp saturated with juice.
Abstract:
A food processor appliance includes various types of adaptors for permitting both liquid and solid food ingredients to be separately or concurrently fed into the appliance for processing therein, or for adapting the appliance particularly for processing long, slim food articles, such as carrots, cucumbers, etc. Another described feature is particularly useful for juicer-type appliances, and includes a base for supporting a juice-receiver receptacle, which base includes a retractable tray for catching drippings when the receptacle is not in place.
Abstract:
A cooking device particularly useful for cooking pasta, includes: an elongated receptacle for receiving the pasta to be cooked and water to be heated for cooking the pasta, the receptacle being closed at one end and open at its opposite end; a sieve attached to the open end of the receptacle for removing the water after the pasta has been cooked therein; and a cover attached over the sieve for covering the sieve during the cooking of the pasta, and detachable therefrom to permit removing the water from the receptacle via the sieve after the pasta has been cooked. Detachment of the cover from the sieve is facilitated by inter-engaging cam surfaces effective, upon the initial rotation of the cover, to move the cover axially outwardly with respect to the sieve in order to release to the atmosphere any negative pressure generated within the receptacle by condensation of vapors or cooling of the water. Handling of the receptacle while hot is facilitated by providing the receptacle with an outer sleeve of heat-insulating material, and/or with a heat-insulating handle.
Abstract:
A cooking appliance, includes a pair of cooking plates (9) pivotally mounted to various angular positions, including a vertical position. Each plate (9) is formed, centrally of its lower edge in the vertical position of the two plates, with a ribbed formation defining a drain channel for draining from the plates (9) fluids emanating from the food article (17) during the cooking thereof between the plates (9) . A disposable food holder (10) is provided including a pair of panels (11,12) of heat-resistant sheet material joined to each other to define a compartment (18) for holding the food article (17) during the cooking thereof , the compartment (18) having a small drain opening (20) aligned with the drain channel of the cooking plates (9) for draining fluids emanating from the food article (17) .
