Abstract: The present invention relates to compositions comprising astaxanthin and omega-3 fatty acids, and in particular such compositions derived from krill. A major part of the astaxanthin present in said compositions is in the form of astaxanthin esters, and in particular astaxanthin diester. When it comes to the omega-3 fatty acids, most of them are in the form of triglycerides, but there are also some in free form and there may also be some omega-3 fatty acids in the form of phospholipids, in particular phosphatidylcholine. The compositions of the present invention may find use as dietary supplement in animal feed for fish, crustaceans, shrimp, pets and others with the aim to increase astaxanthin plasma levels compared to baseline as well as for increasing the omega-3 index.
