The invention refers to a bearing unit and a method for its manufacture incorporating an outer race ring (1), an inner race ring (4) having an inner envelope surface with an axially tapering saw-tooth profile (6), a thin-walled axially slotted sleeve (7), having a tapering saw-tooth profile (9) on its outer envelope surface, cooperating with the saw-tooth profile (6) in the inner race ring (4) for increasing and decreasing the grip of the thin-walled sleeve against a shaft, when inner race ring (4) and sleeve (7) are mutually displaced, a flange (10) connected to the sleeve (7) and having tightening means (11) operable to cause the displacement between sleeve (7) and inner race ring (4), rolling bodies (12) positioned between inner and outer race rings, wherein the surface of the inner race ring (4) presenting the tapering saw-tooth profile (6) has been subjected to a turning operation followed by hardening.

The invention relates to a combination of a load cell (7) and a tubular insert (3) for mounting in a bore (2) in a machine component (1), wherein the load cell (7) is structurally connected to an inner sleeve (6), which is axially displaceable inside an outer sleeve (4), which is insertable in the bore (2), said inner and outer sleeves (6, 4) having portions with mutually tapering envelope surfaces facing each other, and means (5, 8, 11) being provided for displacing the inner sleeve (6) and the outer sleeve (4) axially relative to each other for expanding the outer sleeve (4) partially for increasing the grip between the insert (3) and the bore (2), thereby giving the load cell (7) a pretension sufficient for emitting signals representative for the current load acting on the machine component (1).

A spherical roller bearing (1), provided with integrated locking device (2), with tapering cooperating (3, 4) surfaces provided on one hand in the outer envelope surface of a thin-walled sleeve (5) and on the other hand in the inner envelope surface of the bearing inner ring (1a), an annular flange (6) for tightening devices (7) being arranged for displacing the sleeve (5) and the bearing inner ring (1a) relative to each other, thereby increasing the grip between bearing inner ring (1a) and sleeve (5) and between sleeve (5) and a shaft, on which the spherical bearing is to be arrested, said tightening device being arranged in inclined bores (8) in said annular flange (6), and a separate loose thrust flange (9) being provided between the bearing inner ring (1a) and said annular flange (6), said separate loose thrust flange (9) having a surface (9a) being inclined, thus that it is substantially perpendicular to the extension of said inclined bores (8) in the annular flange (6).
