Abstract: This disclosure relates to speakers and more specifically to an array speaker for distributing music uniformly across a room. A number of audio drivers can be radially distributed within a speaker housing so that an output of the drivers is distributed evenly throughout the room. In some embodiments, the exit geometry of the audio drivers can be configured to bounce off a surface supporting the array speaker to improve the distribution of music throughout the room. The array speaker can include a number of vibration isolation elements distributed within a housing of the array speaker. The vibration isolation elements can be configured reduce the strength of forces generated by a subwoofer of the array speaker.

Abstract: An illumination structure for a key of a keyboard is used to uniformly illuminate the key and any glyphs that are present on the key. The illumination structure includes a light guide (310) having reflection features (325) positioned at various locations around the light guide that increase total internal reflection, illumination features (315) or light extraction features that are operative to illuminate the glyphs of the key, and light-directing features (330) to direct light emitted from the light emitting element (335) down one of more paths of the light guide (310).

Abstract: An electronic device may have a display with a backlight (42). The backlight provides backlight illumination for an array of pixels (24) that is displaying images. The backlight includes an array of cells (38C). Each cell contains a light source (38) with one or more light-emitting diodes (38D) and a cavity reflector (68) that reflects light from the light source outwardly through a diffuser (34) for use in forming the backlight illumination. The light sources are mounted to a printed circuit (60). Support posts (90) on the printed circuit are used to maintain the diffuser at a fixed distance (H) from the printed circuit. Sensors (104) on the printed circuit are used to measure separation distances between the printed circuit and diffuser. Adjustments to pixel gain profiles can be made based on the measured separation distances to maintain uniform illumination.

Abstract: An array of pixels in a display may be illuminated by a backlight having an array (36) of light-emitting diodes (38) in an array of respective cells. A reflector (68) is used to reflect light from the light-emitting diodes (38) through the array of pixels. Within the cells, the reflector (68) has cross-sectional profiles that help distribute light (80) emitted from the light-emitting diodes (38) toward edges of the cells. A light diffuser layer (34) for the backlight may have a partially reflective layer (96) such as a thin-film interference filter with an angularly dependent transmission. Within each cell, the reflector (68) may have cross-sectional profiles with portions that are parabolic or elliptical.

Abstract: An electronic device may include a display having an array of light-emitting diodes mounted to a driver die with driver circuitry for controlling the light-emitting diodes. The diodes may include contact pads. Contact pads for one of the diode terminals (e.g., the anodes or the cathodes) may be individually addressable, whereas the other diode terminals may share a common contact pad. The individually addressable contact pads and the common contact pad may be vertically stacked to improve thermal dissipation. The common contact pad may be interposed between the driver die and the individually addressable contact pads. Alternatively, the individually addressable contact pads may be interposed between the driver die and the common contact pad. Each LED array may have a dedicated driver die or one driver die may be shared between multiple LED arrays. A single LED array may include LEDs of multiple different colors.

Abstract: An array of pixels in a display may be illuminated by a backlight having an array of light sources such as light-emitting diodes. The light-emitting diodes may be mounted on a printed circuit. A reflector may be formed on the printed circuit to help reflect light from the light- emitting diodes upwards through the pixels. The reflector may include two white ink layers. Multifunctional layers and other optical films may be incorporated into the backlight. These layers may include diffusers, microlens array layers, thin-film interference filters, phosphor layers, light-collimating layers, and reflective polarizers.
