Abstract:
It has been discovered that when a zirconium compound, preferably an acetate or other oil-soluble organic Zr compound, is utilized in an FCC riser, it must be injected into a low temperature stream, e.g., a feed stream, or preferably injected directly into the riser, e.g., through a quill, so that any thermal decomposition occurs in the riser in proximity to the FCC conversion catalyst. Water solutions prematurely decompose, depositing Zr on piping of the cracking process unit.
