Abstract: There is described a supporting device (11) for capillary and nano columns used in liquid chromatography, wherein adapter means are provided to hold a column in position in the housing element and to ensure fluid-tight seal of the column regardless of its length and/or of its diameter. Separate embodiments describe adapter means for columns of different diameters, but of predetermined length; adapter means that can be adjusted in length; a coiled column; and multiple columns connected in series.
