Abstract: A heat exchanger (1) is provided for use in extracorporeal blood oxygenation systems. The heat exchanger (1) includes a housing (2), a core (8) disposed within the housing (2), and a baffle (10) disposed within the core (8). A blood passage chamber (9) is defined by the outer surface of the core (8) and the inner surface of the housing (2). Blood flows from the blood inlet (3), through the blood passage chamber (9), to the blood outlet (4). Heat exchange fluids flow from a fluid inlet (5), into an inlet chamber (11), around the baffle (10), into an outlet chamber (12), and to a fluid outlet (6).
