Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for modifying a separable projectile (1,20) between a test embodiment or an effect embodiment by: i. detaching the front projectile body from the rear projectile body (3), ii. arranging a payload container (8,21) in the front projectile body where the payload container comprises measuring equipment or an effect part, and iii. fitting the front projectile body (2) to the rear projectile body (3) by way of a belt (4). The invention also relates to a separable projectile (1,20), which can be modified between a test embodiment and an effect embodiment.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method in firing artillery projectiles, such as various types of shells (1, 26) , from rifled barrels (5a, 5b) for preventing the degree of wear of the barrel from which the projectiles are fired from having a negative effect on the muzzle velocity of the projectiles. The invention also encompasses a number of artillery projectiles or shells (1, 26) designed according to said method, and a method of manufacturing these. The invention encompasses a number of different variants for solving the stated problem, the basic principle of all of these variants being to adjust the band positions of the shells to the degree of barrel wear, so that a perfect propellant gas obturation is at all times obtained between the band (9, 11-14, 19-21, 23 and 33) and the origin of the rifling in the barrel, regardless of the degree of barrel wear.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for increasing the range of shells (1, 8, 13) charged with an explosive substance and other types of shell, which function as carriers of the one or other type of active payload. The method according to the invention thus provides an opportunity for increasing the range of fire of most types of artillery piece by increasing the muzzle velocity and the gliding flight capability of shells or projectiles fired from them, but without the need to increase the energy content in the propellant charges utilized for firing the shells or the projectiles concerned. The novelty proposed in accordance with the invention instead represents a radical modification to the design of the shell (1, 8, 13) utilized in conjunction therewith. The invention also relates to a shell charged with an explosive substance or provided with some other active payload which has been given a long range.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a holding device (5) and method for decreasing the contact-impact event on sub-projectiles (1) when fired from a barrel, cylinder, carrier shell or the like. The holding device (5) comprises a core (3) and at least two legs (2) that at least partially enclose at least one sub-projectile (1) each. When a projectile is fired from a barrel or the like the sub-projectiles load the legs (2) of the device (5) which are deformed and open up and release the sub-projectiles (1) in a controlled manner without tumbling which leads them to hit and penetrate their target with the short-side. The present invention further provides a holding device (5) comprising sub-projectiles (1) and a projectile comprising the holding device (5).
