Abstract: An apparatus for detecting one or more properties of a downhole fluid includes a housing (202). The apparatus also includes a location- sensitive optical detector (204), arranged within a chamber (300) formed by the housing (202). The apparatus further includes a light source (206), arranged within the chamber (300). The apparatus also includes a lens (208), positioned at an end (302) of the housing (202), the lens (208) preferably having a flat side (210) and a curved side (212), the flat side (210) positioned proximate the chamber (300) to position the flat side (210) closer to the light source (206) than the curved side (212). The apparatus further includes a mirror (214), arranged outside the housing (202).
