Abstract: Pipe fractures in cooling staves of blast furnaces are a common failure mechanism. Herein is a repair method for a cooling stave (30) utilized in a blast furnace, the cooling stave (30) having a compromised stave inlet outlet pipe (27) attached to the cooling pipe in the cooling stave (30), the method comprises of the steps of inserting a rigid pipe (1) into the compromised stave inlet outlet pipe (27) to form a first annulus (28); inflating a bladder (20) disposed inside the inner pipe (1) and cooling stave (30); injecting a first uncured epoxy material into the first annulus (28); permitting the first uncured epoxy to cure; and removing the bladder (20).
