The invention relates to cathode material for an alkali metal-sulfur cell, in particular for a lithium-sulfur cell, said material comprising at least one sulfur-containing cathode active material (11) and at least one sulfide ion conductor (12). The invention also relates to a solid electrolyte of said type and to a separator and/or a protective layer and a cell and battery equipped therewith.

The invention relates to a polymer, more specifically a polymer electrolyte and cathode material for an alkali metal cell, in particular for a lithium-sulfur cell. In order to improve the performance and safety of alkali metal cells, e.g. lithium-sulfur cells, a polymer based on general chemical formula (I) is disclosed where -[A]- represents a unit forming a polymer backbone, X represents a spacer, x represents the number of spacers X and is 1 or 0, Q represents a positively charged group Q+ and a counterion Z-, or Q represents a negatively charged group Q- and a counterion Z+, or Q represents an uncharged group. The invention further relates to the use thereof as well as to a cathode, a separator, a protective layer, and a cell.

The invention relates to a battery, in particular a lithium-metal battery or a lithium-ion battery, comprising at least one galvanic cell (1) surrounded by a cell housing (2,2'). The aim of the invention is to increase the safety of the battery and to re-close a cell (1) opened by means of a safety device (2') or due to a leakage. To this end, the inner chamber (3) of the cell housing (2, 2') of the at least one cell (1) contains a first chemical component (A), a chamber (13) adjacent to at least one section of the outer side of the cell housing (2, 2') of the at least one cell (1) contains a second chemical component (B), a solid chemical reaction product (AB) being formed by the chemical reaction of the first chemical component (A) and the second chemical component (B). In particular, the first component (A) can be contained in the electrolyte of the cell (1) and the second component (B) in cooling and/or temperature control means. The invention further relates to corresponding cooling and temperature control means and to an electrolyte, an electrolytic liquid, a security system, a method and a mobile or stationary system.

The present invention relates to a lithium-sulphur cell which comprises a lithium-containing anode (1), a sulphur-containing cathode (2) and a separator (3) arranged between the lithium-containing anode (1) and the sulphur-containing cathode (2). To suppress a shuttle mechanism and to prevent a loss of active material, the separator (3) comprises a base layer (3a) and a polysulphide barrier layer (3b), where the polysulphide barrier layer (3b) is formed on the cathode side of the separator (3). In addition, the present invention relates to a separator, a lithium-sulphur battery and a mobile or stationary system such as a vehicle or an energy storage plant.
