    Abstract: A heat exchanger (1, 201, 701, 801, 901, 1001, 1101, 1201) includes a shell (10, 910), a refrigerant distributor (20, 220, 320, 420, 520, 620), and a heat transferring unit (30, 930). The shell (10, 910) has a refrigerant inlet (11a) through which at least refrigerant with liquid refrigerant flows and a shell refrigerant vapor outlet (12a). A longitudinal center axis (C) of the shell (10, 910) extends generally parallel to a horizontal plane (P). The refrigerant distributor (20, 220, 320, 420, 520, 620) is connected to the refrigerant inlet (11a) and disposed within the shell (10, 910). The refrigerant distributor (20, 220, 320, 420, 520, 620) has at least one liquid refrigerant distribution opening (23b, 68) that distributes liquid refrigerant and a refrigerant vapor distribution outlet opening (O) longitudinally spaced from the shell refrigerant vapor outlet (12a). The heat transferring unit (30, 930) is disposed inside of the shell (10, 910) below the refrigerant distributor (20, 220, 320, 420, 520, 620) so that the liquid refrigerant discharged from the refrigerant distributor (20, 220, 320, 420, 520, 620) is supplied to the heat transferring unit (30, 930).
