Abstract: A hairstyling device is provided. The hairstyling device comprises a heatable hair contact member having a hair-contactable surface, the hair contact member being operable to apply heat to hair via the hair-contactable surface. The hairstyling device comprises a controller configured to monitor power draw associated with heating of the hair contact member during heating of hair of a user via the hair-contactable surface. Based on the monitored power draw, one or more hair damage parameters indicative of damage of the heated hair are calculated. The controller is configured to control the hairstyling device based on the one or more calculated hair damage parameters.

The hairstyling device comprises a controller configured to receive a signal from the IMU indicating movement of the hair contact member along a tress of hair between a first end and a second end of the tress, process the received signal to determine a speed of the hair contact member, determine a difference between a heat delivery profile achievable by the hair contact member moving at the determined speed along the tress and a target heat delivery profile along the tress, and cause, based on the determined difference, a user interface to provide an output relating to the determined speed of the hair contact member.

Abstract: A hairstyling device comprises a heatable hair contact member movable between a closed configuration and an open configuration, and sensor equipment configured to generate a sensor output indicating whether the hair contact member is in the closed configuration or in the open configuration. A controller is configured to receive the sensor output from the sensor equipment. In response to the sensor output indicating that the hair contact member is in the closed configuration, heating of the hair contact member is controlled based on a first predetermined threshold operating temperature of the hair contact member. In response to the sensor output indicating that the hair contact member is in the open configuration, heating of the hair contact member is controlled based on a second predetermined threshold operating temperature of the hair contact member, lower than the first predetermined threshold operating temperature.
