Abstract: A filament smart feed cannister for use with a machine includes a cannister, a spool rotatably disposed within the cannister, a filament wound around the spool, and a feed drive unit connected to the cannister for feeding the filament to the machine using a constant torque. The present disclosure relates to machines that create additive printed parts and more particularly to a filament smart feed system for a machine that creates additive printed parts. The filament smart feed cannister is mounted to a top surface of the cannister and receives the filament from the spool within the cannister.

Abstract: A three-dimensional printer includes a support tray moveably fixed on a frame of the three-dimensional printer and configured to move in a Z-direction. An insulation sheet is provided adjacent to and supported by the support tray. A heating member is provided adjacent to and supported by the insulation sheet. A support bed is provided adjacent to the heating member and supported by the support tray, and a ferromagnetic build plate is provided adjacent to and supported by the support bed. The ferromagnetic build plate includes a pair of locator tabs that locate and align the ferromagnetic build plate on the support bed. The support bed includes a plurality of magnets that produce a magnetic force to hold the ferromagnetic build plate against a surface of the support bed.
