Abstract: An elastomeric composition is disclosed. The elastomeric composition includes, per 100 parts by weight of rubber (phr): about 5 to about 30 phr of polybutadiene having a cis-1,4 linkage content of at least 95%; about 60 to 100 phr of a styrene/butadiene copolymer; an antioxidant; a curative agent; about 1 to about 20 phr carbon black; about 50 to 80 phr silica, a silane coupling agent and about 5 to about 30 phr of a polymer is selected from the group consisting of ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer, butyl rubber, poly(isobutylene-co-para- methylstyrene) and poly(isobutylene-co-para-methylstyrene-co-isoprene) terpolymer. The polymer based on ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer, butyl rubber, poly(isobutylene-co- para-methylstyrene) and poly(isobutylene-co-para-methylstyrene-co-isoprene) terpolymer may be functionalized.

Abstract: Provided herein are isobutylene -based polymer compositions comprising functionalized isobutylene -based polymer with olefinic side chain substituents, and a sulfur donor and/or accelerator cure system. The functionalized polymer is produced via nucleophilic substitution reaction in solution. The present functionalized isobutylene-based polymer compositions together with various accelerators and sulfur donors can form thermosets useful for pharmaceutical and tire applications without the use of zinc or a zinc oxide activator.

Abstract: The present invention is related to an adhesive composition comprising a 50-95 wt% polymer blend and a tackifier. The blend has a first and second propylene-based polymer, both different homopolymers of propylene or a copolymer of propylene and ethylene or a C 4 to C 10 alpha-olefin. The blend has a melt viscosity, measured at 190°C, of 1,000 to 30,000 cP. The tackifier has a softening point of 95°C to 115°C, an aromaticity of 3 mol% to 10 mol% aromatic protons, and a Cloud Point of 40°C to 65°C.

Abstract: Described herein are hydrocarbon polymer modifiers for use in various applications. The hydrocarbon polymer modifier comprises a cyclic component, and has a glass transition temperature and Mn defined by the following two equations: (1) Tg ≥ 95 - 2.2* (%H Ar), and (2) Tg ≥ -53 + (0.265 * Mn); an aromatic proton content (%H Ar) of from 12 mole % to 19 mole %; and an Mn of from 300 g/mole to 450 g/mole, wherein Tg is glass transition temperature as expressed in °C of the modifier, the %H Ar represents the content of aromatic protons in the hydrocarbon polymer modifier, Mn represents the number average molecular weight of the hydrocarbon polymer modifier, and the cyclic component is selected from the group of a distillation cut from a petroleum refinery stream, and/or C4, C5 or C6 cyclic olefins and mixtures thereof. Further, the hydrocarbon polymer modifier may be characterized by a Tg of from 70 °C to 95 °C and/or a z-average molecular weight (Mz) of the hydrocarbon polymer modifier of less than 1000 g/mole. The hydrocarbon modifiers are particularly useful in high Tg applications where low molecular weight resin is desirable.
