Abstract:
A street lighting fixture and street lamp used in street lighting containing an accelerometer (1150) that is used to detect and characterize acceleration events on a street lighting fixture. The accelerometer (1150) readings may be combined with GPS technology (1140) to determine a relocation of the street lighting fixture.
Abstract:
A method and system for geolocation using a street light system having transponding technology. A predetermined band of radio frequencies employing spread spectrum technology is used to identify locations relative to an individual street light.
Abstract:
Some embodiments are directed to an Internet of Things ("IoT") associate to facilitate implementation of a digital twin of a twinned physical system. The IoT associate may include a communication port to communicate with at least one component, the at least one component comprising a sensor or an actuator associated with the twinned physical system, and a gateway to exchange information via the IoT. A computer processor and local data storage, coupled to the communication port and gateway, may receive a digital twin model from a data warehouse via the IoT. The computer processor may be programmed to, for at least a selected portion of the twinned physical system, execute the digital twin model in connection with the at least one component and operation of the twinned physical system.
Abstract:
A method and system for controlling and monitoring street lights using optical link signaling through free space which does not require an FCC license for operation. The optical link signaling is accomplished in the space between street lights by using LEDs for both area lighting and optical signaling. A Street lighting system luminaire comprises a structural member such as a pole, a lamp comprising one or more LEDs.. and an optical receiver that receives optical signaling from one or more other luminaires in street lighting network. The modulator modulates the output of the lamp to launch data into the street lighting system for transport. The optical receiver and modulator enables strobing and flashing modes such as required to support emergency services.
Abstract:
An engine communication system for aircraft engines having a nacelle with two cowlings extending annularly about the aircraft engine and defining a radially outward surface thereof, and at least one sensor positioned radially inward from the nacelle. The system includes a cowling gap positioned between the two cowlings when coupled together, and an engine control device communicatively coupled to the sensor and configured to at least one of receive engine data from the sensor and receive instruction data from a transmitter device positioned radially outward from the cowling gap. The system also includes a linearly polarized antenna communicatively coupled to the engine control device and positioned radially inward from the cowling gap and extending radially outward toward the cowling gap. The antenna is configured to at least one of receive and transmit the engine data and the instruction data through the cowling gap.
Abstract:
A system and method for a lighting control system to control street lighting fixtures using modified geometric harmonic modulation for communications over a powerline. At least some of the lighting fixtures have another communications capability that enables RF communications. The communications may by messages be sent to the lighting fixtures to read RF enabled meters.
Abstract:
A method and system for the control and signaling of traffic signal lights by emergency vehicles in the vicinity. Emergency vehicles can be detected by traffic signal lights allowing the emergency vehicle to have a prioritized, rapid, unimpeded, and safe emergency vehicle transit.
Abstract:
A system and method for monitoring a condition of a marine riser including at least one subsea sensing and acoustic platform mechanically coupled to a riser joint of the marine riser. The at least one platform includes one or more sensors mechanically coupled to the riser joint and including plug-and-play sensor interface technology. The platform further includes a microprocessor configured to receive and analyze sensor data from the one or more sensors and provide pre-processed data representative of a determination of a condition of the riser joint. A memory module is provided including one or more software modules executable by the microprocessor and configured to provide data storage. The platform further includes an acoustic modem configured to receive the pre-processed data, communicate the condition to a topside acoustic transceiver in real-time and provide remote command configuration in response to the condition. An included power module provides power to the platform components.
Abstract:
A system to detect a position of a pipe 214 with respect to a BOP 116 includes a casing 202 disposed around an outer surface of a section of the pipe 214. The system further includes sensing devices 204 that are disposed on the casing 202 and arranged to form a plurality of arrays 220,224 and configured to generate position signals. The arrays are disposed circumferentially around the casing 202 and spaced from one another along the length of the casing. The system includes a processing unit 206 configured to compute distance between the pipe 214 and each sensing device 204. The processing unit 206 generates a first alert when the distance between the pipe 214 and at least one sensing device 204 is different from a reference distance. The processing unit generates a second alert when the distance between the pipe 214 and each sensing device 204 of at least one array of sensing devices is different from the reference distance.
