Abstract:
A wearable sleeve to protect a sensor coupled to an object. The wearable sleeve having an axial axis, a longitudinal axis substantially perpendicular to the axial axis, a first wearable sleeve end and a second wearable sleeve end opposite the first wearable sleeve end. A first ring coupled to the first end of the first wearable sleeve end and a second ring coupled to the second wearable sleeve end. The first ring and the second ring have the same expansion properties as the object.
Abstract:
A single layer antenna path profile is provided. An antenna assembly for the single layer antenna profile includes a bobbin having a cylindrical body defining an outer radial surface, an inner radial surface, and a central axis. The antenna assembly also includes one or more channels defined in the outer radial surface. In some aspects, each channel is defined by a continuously curved inner surface having a constant radius. In some aspects, the inner surface extends more than 180 but less than 360 and thereby defines an opening in the body. The antenna assembly also includes a coil including a wire wrapped about the bobbin and received within the one or more channels. In some aspects, an arcuate portion of the wire extends through the opening such that a portion of the wire protrudes out of the channel.
Abstract:
Wellbore logging tools can include a coil antenna assembly that prevents breakage of a coil wire during downhole use under elevated pressure. The antenna assembly can include an insulator base used to help insulate the wires so elevated downhole pressures do not result in a short to a tool mandrel. The insulator base provides a recessed path for the in/out portions of the wire so manufacturing fixtures of the antenna assembly will not damage them.
Abstract:
Mechanisms for induction-based resistivity measurements can be provided for use in geo-steering in a drilling operations environment. An antenna assembly can provide effective protection for antenna sections without hindering propagation of electromagnetic signals. The antenna assembly can include a bobbin disposed about a collar of a tool string; an antenna disposed on an outer surface of the bobbin; an outer adhesive layer covering the antenna and at least a portion of the bobbin; and a protective layer disposed against the outer adhesive layer; wherein the outer adhesive layer fills a space radially between the bobbin and the protective layer.
Abstract:
A triad antenna shield includes a housing positionable radially external to three loop antennas of a resistivity logging tool in a wellbore. The housing defines three slot sets each corresponding to a respective one of the loop antennas to overlap at least a portion of the respective loop antenna. At least one slot of each slot set is perpendicular to a trace angle with respect to a longitudinal axis. Further, each slot set extends around a circumference of the triad antenna shield and through a first layer of the housing.
Abstract:
Logging downhole exposes components of logging tools, for example, antennas to abrasive and erosive operating conditions. A protective sleeve may disposed about an antenna assembly to protect the antenna assembly for the downhole operating conditions. To permit transmission and receipt of signals by and too the antenna assembly, slots are formed or disposed in the protective sleeve. A non-conductive composite insert is formed in the slots to protect the internal components of the protective sleeve, for example, the antenna assembly, from the operation conditions. A non-conductive composite inner liner is formed in an annulus of the protective sleeve and adheres to the protective sleeve and the non-conductive composite insert. The non-conductive component insert and inner liner allow signals to be transmitted and received by the antenna assembly so that logging operations can be completed without undue delay and the expense of repairing or replacing worn or damaged components.
Abstract:
An antenna assembly includes a bobbin positionable about an outer surface of a tool mandrel and providing an outer bobbin surface. A coil is wrapped about and extends longitudinally along at least a portion of the outer bobbin surface. An inner sleeve interposes the bobbin and the tool mandrel and receives a plurality of ferrites that interpose the tool mandrel and the coil.
Abstract:
An antenna assembly includes a bobbin positionable about an outer surface of a tool mandrel, and a coil wrapped about an outer bobbin surface of the bobbin and extending longitudinally along at least a portion of the outer bobbin surface. A plurality of ferrites are positioned within a groove defined in the outer surface of the tool mandrel, and the plurality of ferrites extend circumferentially about the outer surface and interpose the tool mandrel and the coil.
Abstract:
A compact sub assembly and well measurement system. The compact sub assembly may comprise a deep transmitter disposed about one end of the compact sub assembly, a shallow dual transmitter disposed on the compact sub assembly between the deep transmitter and a second end of the compact sub assembly, a shallow dual-collocated receiver disposed on the compact sub assembly between the deep transmitter and a second end of the compact sub assembly, and a deep receiver disposed about the second end of the compact sub assembly. A well measurement system for decoupling a component signal may comprise a logging tool. The logging tool may comprise a first sub assembly and a conveyance attached to the logging tool. In examples the first sub assembly is a compact sub assembly comprising a deep transmitter, a shallow dual transmitter, a shallow dual-collocated receiver, and a deep receiver.
