Abstract:
A large engine, in particular a marine engine or engine for power plants, and a method of lubricating the engine with injectors. According to the method there are provided one flowmeter for all injectors in the engine, one flowmeter for all injectors in a cylinder or one flowmeter for each injector in the engine. The method comprises the steps of measuring with the at least one flowmeter the lubricant flow, transforming in the controller the measured actual flow into an actual amount, comparing the calculated actual amount to the desired value, and controlling the injectors and adjusting the setting thereof in order to regulate the amount to the desired value for lubricant amount to be injected for a specific operation mode.
Abstract:
A method for lubricating a large slow-running two-stroke engine. The lubricant viscosity and pressure is selected such that cavitation is provided in the nozzle and potentially is extending to the nozzle exit.
Abstract:
The method comprises steps for delivering lubricating oil under pressure from a lubricating oil reservoir (7) via a forced lubrication system to injectors (3) provided in the cylinder walls. A number of injectors (3) are used, each adapted for injecting a dosed amount of lubricating oil into each cylinder. The method further includes steps of: - establishing data indicating the temperature of cylinder linings (5); - establishing data that indicate the temperature of the lubricating oil in the lubricating oil reservoir (7); - storing the temperature data for cylinder linings (5) and the lubricating oil in a computer; - establishing at least one temperature regulating unit (9) controlled by the computer and connected with the delivered lubricating oil for establishing a temperature regulation of the lubricating oil before injection into the cylinder; - controlling the temperature regulation of the lubricating oil in dependence of the temperature of the cylinder linings (5) and the temperature of the lubricating oil in the lubricating oil reservoir (7), as the computer controls heating/cooling in the temperature regulating unit (9) for influencing the viscosity of the lubricating oil such that a uniform injection independent of the temperature of the cylinder linings (5) is established.
