Abstract: A retread curing ring apparatus (9) for mounting on a tire retread assembly (30) which has a tire carcass (35) having a retread area, integral side walls (36) with inner edges, a preformed tread strip (33) positioned on the retread area, and a flexible envelope or bag (31) surrounding the entire retread assembly (30). The retread curing ring apparatus (9) is positioned adjacent to each side of the tire carcass (35). The curing ring apparatus (9) has a circular body (8) with a recess (15) adjacent to its bottom edge (16) and positioned in the recess (15) a circular elastomeric gasket (2) having a channel (3) at its bottom edge (14) for attachment to the curing ring apparatus (9). The gasket (2) has a plurality of circumferential ribs (5) adjacent the bead (37) of the tire carcass (35) which enables the clamp assemblies (6) mounted circumferentially on the curing ring apparatus (9) to hold the curing ring apparatus (9) and the tire retread assembly (30) in an airtight engaged position during retreading.
