Abstract: A fibre laser having an optical cavity that has an optical fibre and a curved mirror for imaging light leaving the fibre back into the fibre. The optical fibre has a round trip dispersion loss of less than 200000 fs 2 . The round trip length of the optical fibre is less than 2.3 m.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a hyperspectral imaging method for imaging a sample, the method comprising; providing a sample; providing a broadband light source; modulating the broadband light source to provide a plurality of modulated spectra; illuminating the sample with the plurality of modulated spectra; collecting spectral image data using of a combination of bandpass sampling and non-uniform sampling; and reconstructing spectral image data whereby a sample is imaged.
