    Abstract: An additive manufacturing system includes a cooling module to cause a first dominant air flow over a first print zone area and a second dominant air flow over a second print zone area. An energy source is to apply energy to the print zone. A controller is to (i) determine air flow characteristics by: controlling the cooling module to cause the first and second air flows to have respective first and second predetermined flow rates, controlling the energy source to apply energy to the print zone, and determining at least one of a parameter of the energy source and a characteristic of the first air flow and the second air flow. The controller is also to (ii) set at least one of the first and second air flow rates to be used during the processing of subsequent 3D printing operations based on the determined parameter or characteristic.

    Abstract: A method includes generating a plurality of calibration objects using additive manufacturing in a plurality of layers in which other objects are generated, wherein the other objects fill a predetermined proportion of the layers, and the objects are generated using a predetermined coverage amount of a cooling agent. A measurement of a physical property of each calibration object may be obtained by processing circuitry. The measurements may include a first set of measurements of calibration objects generated with different filled proportions of the layers, and a second set of measurements of calibration objects generated with different coverage amounts. The method may include characterising, by processing circuitry and based on the sets of measurements, a relationship between cooling agent coverage amounts and an indication of an amount of radiation received by the calibration object which is reflected from build material during object generation, the relationship useful in generating subsequent objects.

    Abstract: A 3D printer is disclosed herein. The 3D printer comprises a build material distributor to generate layers of a build material having a right limit temperature of the build material crystallization curve higher than a left limit temperature of the build material fusing curve. The 3D printer also comprises an agent distributor to selectively deposit an energy absorbent fusing agent to a layer of build material; an energy source to emit energy at a set of wavelengths comprised in the range of 430 to 1200nm; and a controller. The controller is to receive print job data of a 3D object to be generated; control the build material distributor to generate a layer of build material; control the agent distributor to selectively deposit the fusing agent based on the print job data; and to control the energy source to emit energy to the layer of build material to cause build material on which the fusing agent was deposited to melt, coalesce and then solidify upon cooling.
