Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing welding type power, including a power and control circuit is disclosed. The power circuit provides welding, control and aux power. The control and aux power are provided with a transformer, and secondary windings for control and aux power are wound on a single bobbin, with a winding separator separating them. Air vents, which can be formed by fins on the bobbin or separator allow cooling of the inner winding.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing welding type power supply includes a power circuit and a control circuit. The power circuit receives input power and provides welding type power to a welding output. The power circuit includes a transformer having a primary winding and a secondary winding. The secondary winding is in electrical communication with the welding output. The control circuit is connected to control the power circuit. The transformer includes a bobbin with the primary winding and the secondary winding wound thereon. The bobbin can includes vents to allow air flow into the bobbin. A winding separator can be disposed between the primary and secondary windings.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a welding type power is disclosed. It includes an outer housing (100) having a wind tunnel (501) within the outer housing (100). Air flows through the wind tunnel (501) in an air flow direction. The width of the tunnel is less at one location than at another location. Electrical components receive power and provide a welding type output. A first group of those components require air flow for cooling, and are disposed at least partially in the wind tunnel. A second group of components are not disposed in the wind tunnel. The wind tunnel (501) can also change direction.
