Abstract: A suspended fabric seat includes a frame, a woven fabric suspended in the frame and a plurality of compression limiters attached to the woven fabric. The woven fabric is formed from monofilament fibers that are oriented in a first direction and textile fibers oriented in a second direction transverse to the first direction. The plurality of compression limiters are oriented in the first direction and are formed from a material compatible with the woven fabric. A mthod for making the suspended fabric seat is also disclosed.

Abstract: A seat includes a seat surface having a periphery and a carrier overmolded onto the seat surface over the periphery. The carrier has a periphery and a frame is overmolded onto the carrier over the carrier periphery. The seat is assembled without fasteners. A method for making the seat includes overmolding a carrier onto a periphery of a seat surface to form a seat surface/carrier assembly, tensioning the seat surface/carrier assembly in a mold and overmolding a frame onto a periphery of the seat surface/carrier assembly.

Abstract: A seat and cooling system for the seat include a porous seat surface, an air spacer disposed on a side of the seat surface that defines an air channel, a substantially air impermeable barrier having an opening therein in communication with the air channel and a blower configured to draw air through the seat surface and from the air channel. Air drawn from around an occupant on the seat surface draws moisture from the occupant, causing moisture to evaporate, to provide a cooling sensation.

Abstract: A load bearing surface includes a woven fabric surface and a carrier (18) overmolded onto the fabric surface. Portions of the woven fabric are bonded to the carrier s(18) o as to remain fixed relative to the carrier during normal loading conditions and during abnormally high loading conditions. Other portions (14) of the woven fabric are bonded to the carrier so as to remain fixed relative to the carrier during normal loading conditions and to move or slip within the carrier, or to rupture, during abnormally high loading conditions.
