Abstract: A cutting tool (100; fig. 1) includes a cutting insert (200) removably secured in a tool holder (900; fig. 9). The cutting insert includes first and second side surfaces (202, 204; fig. 5) and first and second locating surfaces (206 and 208; fig. 5) configured to locate the cutting insert (200) in the tool holder (100) between corresponding first and second clamping surfaces (902, 904; fig. 9) of the tool holder (900). The first locating surface (206) protrudes from the cutting insert (100) with angled locating surfaces (218, 220) extending from the first locating surface (206) to the first and second side surfaces (202, 204). The second locating surface (208) comprises an indentation. The cutting insert (100) further comprises front end and rear end surfaces (210, 212) and a rake surface (214). The rake surface (214) and the front end surface (210) form a cutting edge (222). An insert stop surface (216), which extends from the rake surface (214) to the first locating surface (206) and the angled locating surfaces (218, 220), is located at a rear of the rake surface (214).

Abstract: Cutting tools for pipe cutting frames are disclosed. Example split frame pipe cutting tools include a frame and a slide tool configured to position a cutting edge in contact with the workpiece to performing cutting or boring on the workpiece, the slide tool comprising: a radial advancement mechanism configured to provide radial advancement of the cutting edge based on circumferential advancement of the slide tool by the frame; and an axial guide rail; a recirculating bearing carriage configured to slide in an axial direction along the axial guide rail and to couple the cutting edge to the axial guide rail; an axial advancement mechanism configured to advance the cutting edge in the axial direction with respect to the workpiece by translating radial advancement by the radial advancement mechanism to axial advancement based on a cutting template coupled to the radial advancement mechanism. The application concerns an adjustable template (2000) for pipe cutting frames.
