The present disclosure is directed to a system for determining scaling in a boiler. At least one sensor may monitor a boiler during operation and provide sensor data to a boiler monitoring module including a boiler scaling determination module that may determine an amount of scaling in the boiler. Example sensor data may comprise power input, a temperature of liquid in the boiler and an air temperature within an enclosure housing the boiler. The boiler monitoring module may determine thermal energy transfer to the boiler based on the liquid and enclosure temperatures. A machine learning engine may determine a rate of thermal energy transfer to the liquid in view of the power input, the rate of thermal energy transfer being evaluated by the machine learning engine to identify delay in the rate of thermal energy transfer that quantifies an amount of scaling in the boiler.

Apparatuses, systems and methods associated with infrared image based facial analysis are disclosed herein. In embodiments, an apparatus may include one or more processors and facial analysis circuitry to be operated by the one or more processors. The facial analysis circuitry may receive an infrared image of a subject from an infrared capture device and may identify a plurality of analysis regions of the infrared image, wherein the plurality of analysis regions correspond to portions of a face of the subject. The facial analysis circuitry may further determine respective mean temperatures of the plurality of analysis regions and determine a skin tone of the subject based, at least in part, on the respective mean temperatures of the plurality of analysis regions.

Systems, apparatuses and methods may provide for determining, at runtime, one or more deviations of a peripheral device from a common interface based on one or more configuration files and translating one or more communications between the peripheral device and an application in accordance with the one or more deviations. In one example, a level of quality of a product dispensed by a system containing the peripheral device may be determined based on the communications. Moreover, a failure of the system may be predicted based on the communications.
