Abstract:
Aspects of the present invention relate to an optical assembly (1) for a vehicle lamp assembly (3). The optical assembly (1) includes a translucent lens (11); and an input optic (13) configured to direct light emitted by a light source (9-n) of the vehicle lamp assembly (3). The input optic (13) has a light input end (15) configured to receive light from the light source (9-n); and a light output end (17) disposed proximal to the translucent lens (11) and configured to output light received at the light input end (15). A diffuser (21) is disposed between the light output end (17) of the input optic (13) and the translucent lens (11). The diffuser (21) is configured to diffuse light emitted by the light source (9-n). The present invention also relates to a vehicle lamp assembly (3); and a vehicle (5).
Abstract:
A lamp assembly (100) for a vehicle comprises a housing (102) having a first locating feature (110) for locating a first portion of the housing (102) relative to bodywork (124) of a vehicle. A first bracket (114) is on the housing (102), and a second bracket (116) is releasably attached to the first bracket (114). The first and second brackets (114, 116) are configured such that: during manufacture of the vehicle, an initial position of the lamp assembly (100) relative to the bodywork can be established using the first locating feature (110), and then a final position of the lamp assembly relative to the bodywork (124) can be fixed using the second bracket (116); and subsequently detaching the second bracket (116) from the first bracket (114) allows removal of the lamp assembly (100) from the bodywork (124). Methods of installation are also disclosed, as is a method of modifying a location of bracket-locating features on the brackets based on feedback from installation of lamp assemblies in vehicles.
Abstract:
Aspects of the present invention relate to a light guide assembly (1) for a vehicle lamp assembly (3). The light guide assembly (1) has a first light guide (15) having a first light input portion (17) and a first light output portion (19). A collimator (21) is provided for directing light emitted from a light source (7) into the first light input portion (17) of the first light guide (15). The first light output portion (19) includes a plurality of first optical elements (31-n) configured to direct a portion of the light exiting the first light output portion (19) along a respective output light path (OP-1). The output light paths (OP-1) are substantially parallel. Aspects of the present invention also relate to a vehicle lamp assembly (3); and a vehicle (5).
Abstract:
A lamp assembly for a vehicle comprises an at least partially transparent lens or assembly lens cover configured to receive, in use, light from a light source. The assembly is configured such that, when it is installed on a vehicle, at least a component of the received light exits the lens or assembly lens cover and then crosses a longitudinal axis of the vehicle. When a moveable closure such as a tailgate adjacent the lamp assembly is in a closed position, the component of the received light also passes through a transparent or semi-transparent element of or on the moveable closure.
Abstract:
An air flow system for a vehicle comprising a housing adapted to be mounted to a bumper beam of a vehicle, the housing comprising at least one duct portion configured so as to be disposed adjacent to an upper or lower surface of the bumper beam when mounted thereto; the at least one duct portion comprising an inlet and an outlet defining a passage therebetween for conveying air in a direction substantially parallel to said upper or lower surface.
