Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a compound of formula (VI), or a salt or derivative thereof, comprising reacting a compound of formula (V) with a compound of formula (IX) wherein R2, R4, R5 and Z are as described in the specification; in the presence of a Group 10 transition metal catalyst, a base, and water to give the compound of formula (VI).
