Abstract: The present invention relates to sweat sensing and the control of sweat sensors for analyzing sweat uptaken by the sweat sensor (600) from a user's skin. The sweat sensor comprises a data receiving unit (602) configured for receiving a user's medical data affecting sweat characteristics. A measurement unit (603) comprises various sensors configured for carrying out based on the sweat uptaken by the sweat sensor, a sweat rate (proxy) measurement. A controller (604) selects one or more of the sensors based on the user's medical data. The present invention uses the insight that the sweat sensor should select the type of sensor depending on the health status of the user. The data receiving unit (602) may be a user interface, a communication interface condition to a database, or a device for measuring the health status of the user directly within the sensor. Measuring the health status can be done, for example, by an SpO2 sensor, a transcutaneous CO2 sensor, or an analyte concentration sensor sensing the concentration of the analyte in the uptaken sweat. Since the sweat rate (proxy) sensor is adapted to the medical status of the user, the sweat analysis is more accurate and provides analysis results which are clinically more reliable.

Abstract: The present invention relates to devices and methods for uptaking and analyzing sweat from a skin of a user. In particular, it is proposed to provide a variability in the size of the sweat sensor inlets (102, 103, 104), which can be used for improving the determination of sweat parameters like for example determining the number of active sweat glands. The variability in the size of the inlets (102, 103, 104) with which the sweat sensor (100) uptakes the sweat from the user's skin (111) can be achieved by having either a plurality of inlets wherein at least some of them have different opening sizes and to use the differently sized inlets based in different situations. Alternatively, one or more inlets may have openings with variable cross-sectional area, like e.g. an adjustable diameter of their opening, and also a combination of these two alternatives is of course possible. A processor of the sweat sensor may use the information from either all or only the most appropriate sized inlets to determine a sweat parameter. In another alternative, the processor may adapt the inlet to the adjustable inlet opening to the most appropriate size to then determine a sweat parameter of interest.

Abstract: Provided is a method of determining a concentration ( C a ) of a first analyte (a) in sweat excreted by a first sweat gland type at a first skin location ( i ) having the first sweat gland type and a second sweat gland type. The method comprises measuring a first concentration (I) of the first analyte in sweat excreted at the first skin location and measuring at least one parameter of sweat excreted by the second sweat gland type at a second skin location ( ii ) having the second sweat gland type but not the first sweat gland type. The at least one parameter is used to determine a dilution factor (II) which quantifies dilution of the first analyte by sweat excreted by the second sweat gland type at the first skin location. This dilution factor (II) is then used to correct the first concentration (I) so as to determine the concentration ( C a ). Further provided is an apparatus (100) for determining the concentration ( C a ).

Abstract: There is provided an apparatus (100) for measuring movement in a subject. The apparatus (100) comprises a processor (102). The processor (102) is configured to acquire a ballistography, BSG, signal obtained from the subject by a BSG sensor (104). The acquired BSG signal is indicative of movement in the subject. The processor (102) is configured to analyze the acquired BSG signal to identify an index that quantifies a stability of the acquired BSG signal and determine a measure of a quantity of movement in the subject based on the identified index.

Abstract: According to an aspect, there is provided a wearable device, the wearable device comprising: an inflatable body configured to be mounted to a torso of a user; a first sensing device, wherein the first sensing device comprises a first sensor and a first actuator coupling the first sensor to the inflatable body; and a memory storing computer-readable instructions that, when executed, cause the wearable device to: inflate the inflatable body from a first state of the inflatable body to a second state of the inflatable body; actuate the first actuator from a first state of the first actuator to a second state of the first actuator, wherein actuating the first actuator from the first state of the first actuator to the second state of the first actuator reduces a volume of a first air gap between the torso and the first sensor; and while the inflatable body is in the second state of the inflatable body and the first actuator is in the second state of the first actuator receive a first signal from the first sensor. There is also described a method of using the wearable device.

Abstract: A cough detection system and method uses a first database of physiological information relating to a user for whom cough detection is to be implemented and relating to other people likely to be in the vicinity of the user. A second database (used in real time or as a part of a system calibration) has cough data associated with the physiological information. There is a set of cough detection algorithms, each one tailored to a particular set of physiological characteristics. A cough detection algorithm is selected or constructed which is suitable for identifying coughs of the user while ignoring coughs of the other people. This selected algorithm is applied to sound collected to identify coughs of the user.

Abstract: Provided is a system for correcting a sweat analyte measurement for temperature. The system comprises a sweat collector (106) for collecting sweat from skin (102). The collected sweat is drawn from the sweat collector to an outlet (110) via a capillary (108). The sweat is drawn through the capillary by capillary action and evaporation of the sweat from the outlet. The evaporation of the sweat from the outlet depends on the temperature. A flow sensor (112) measures a flow rate of the sweat being drawn through the capillary. An analyte sensor (114) obtains the sweat analyte measurement. The system further comprises a controller which is configured to determine a temperature from the measured flow rate. The sweat analyte measurement is then corrected using the determined temperature. Further provided is a method for correcting a temperature-dependent sweat analyte measurement
