Abstract:
A tool (10, 10a) for securing items together closes C-rings (74) to create hog rings (106). A drive mechanism allows the tool be used continuously for a greater length of time than heretofore possible without inserting a new string of C-rings. The drive mechanism utilizes one-way clutch bearings (92) to provide a ratchet-like mechanism. Each time a trigger (108) on the tool is pulled, a C-ring (74) is closed and another C-ring (74) is advanced to a position in which it may be closed by the same jaws (32, 34). A pneumatic system moves a piston (98) inside a cylinder (16) to move the C-rings (74) along a magazine (50, 50a) towards the jaws (32, 34).
Abstract:
A piece of furniture (10) includes a rectangular frame (12) for supporting a plurality of sinuous springs (20). A plurality of clip assemblies (18) are secured to opposed side walls (14) of the frame (12). Each clip assembly (18) comprises a metallic clip (24) having tabs (62, 64) for holding a plastic liner (26) inside a curved portion (28) of the clip assembly. Each clip assembly (18) also has a detent (66) which inhibits movement of the sinuous spring (20) and has tacks (46) for insertion into the frame (12). Flexible connectors (42) may be located in grooves (40) of the clip assembly (18) to collate multiple clip assemblies.
Abstract:
A piece of furniture (10, 10b, 10d, 10e, 10f, 10g, 10h) includes a rectangular frame (12, 12b, 12d, 12e, 12f, 12g. 12h) for supporting a plurality of sinuous springs (20). A plurality of clip assemblies (18i, 18j) are secured to opposed side walls of frame. Each clip assembly (18i, 18j) comprises at least two metal fasteners (25, 78, 88, 98, 116), each having a generally planar head (29, 80, 90, 100, 118) and a shank (70, 82, 92, 102, 120) for insertion into the frame. The generally planar head (29, 80, 90, 100, 118) of each metal fastener (25, 78, 88, 98, 116) is encased by plastic of a non-metallic piece (22i, 22j). The non-metallic piece (22i, 22 j) has a hook portion (26i, 26j) to secure one end of a sinuous wire (20). Connectors (39) may be formed with the plastic or non-metallic pieces to join multiple clip assemblies.
Abstract:
A piece of furniture (10f,10g, 10h) includes a rectangular frame (12, 12b) for supporting a plurality of sinuous springs (20). A plurality of clip assemblies (18f, 18g, 18h) are secured to opposed side walls ( 14) of frame (12, 12b). Each clip assembly (18f, 18g, 18h) comprises a metallic piece (24f, 24g, 24h) having a generally planar portion (44f, 44g, 44h) and tacks (42f, 42g, 42h) for insertion into the frame (12, 12b). The generally planar portion (44f, 44g, 44h) of the metallic piece (24f, 24g, 24h) is encased by plastic of a non-metallic piece (22f, 22g, 22h) having a hook (26f, 26g, 26h) to secure one end of a sinuous wire (20). Flexible connectors (38) may be located in grooves (36f, 36h) of the clip assembly (18f, 18h) to collate multiple clip assemblies (18f, 18h).
