Abstract: A marine riser (2) comprises one or more riser sections (5a-n) connected in an end-to-end relationship and configured for extending between a subsea installation (3) and a suspension means (1, 4) above the subsea installation. At least one, preferably the lowermost, riser section (5a), comprises at least one pipe (7, 8, 9) having a heat exchanger device (10; 17). The heat exchanger device (10) comprises in one embodiment a support casing (13, 13a,b) having a plurality of radially extending fins (11), and in another embodiment a plurality of branch pipes (17a-c), fluidly connected to at least one of the pipes (7, 8, 9).
