Abstract: A composite toy (1800) includes a first component vehicle (1480) and a vehicle accessory (1512). The first component vehicle (1480) includes a chassis with wheels (1487) and an integral cab portion (1483) and a first coupling member (1458) configured for releasable coupling to another component vehicle (1480). The vehicle accessory (1512) is configured for releasable attachment to the first component vehicle (1480) so as to create a new vehicle (1800) having a modified appearance relative to the first component vehicle (1480). In an alternate embodiment, the composite vehicle (1800) further includes a second component vehicle (1580) including a chassis with an integral cab portion (1483) and a second coupling member (1558) configured for releasable coupling to another component vehicle (1480) either longitudinally or laterally.

Abstract: A magnetic coupling (50) for toy vehicles (80) includes a stationary protruding member (52) and a retractable member (58), each having a rounded end piece (56, 60). One of the end pieces (56, 60) is at least partially formed of a magnetic material and the other (56, 60) is at least partially formed of a non-magnetic, magnetically attractive material. A separate end piece (56, 60) can be provided on each of a pair of toy vehicles (80) or each vehicle (80) can be provided with both. A retractable member (258) can be configured to receive the protruding member (252) in a mechanical coupling (250).
