Abstract: The invention describes a device, a system and a method for providing location information within a mobile network with a mmWave communications deployment. Operator-owned, manufacturer's and third party's applications can access the proposed location service in order to retrieve and/or store user's terminal location information from and to the network. In particular, the proposed method allows the mobile network operator to compute the user's terminal location information (e.g., geolocation) by leveraging mmWave directional communications. Conversely, a mmWave access point's controller can use pre-computed location information of a mobile station to speed up the beamforming procedure and signal synchronization with such station. The invention specifies the system communication architecture, providing details on each component and their operations, as well as the data model involved in the communication between different interfaces across service platform, and the application that needs to use the geolocation information.

Abstract: A method for operating a multi-access edge computing, MEC, system in which a physical infrastructure provider provides a physical infrastructure (202) and in which MEC providers are enabled to become tenants of the physical infrastructure provider by getting allocated network, computing and/or storage resources of the physical infrastructure (202) to obtain their own MEC slices, wherein each of the MEC providers deploys its respective MEC slice to install and run distinct tenant MEC stacks (204, 204'), wherein each tenant MEC stack (204, 204') includes a MEC platform (208, 208') for installation of the respective tenant's MEC applications and/or services. The method includes establishing, among two or more of the MEC providers, an agreement that defines mutual access policies between the respective MEC providers of the agreement, wherein the access policies specify which MEC platforms (208, 208') and which of the MEC applications and/or services running on these MEC platforms (208, 208') are allowed to be exposed among each other and/or to other tenants. Further, the method includes provisioning the MEC platforms (208, 208') with appropriate configurations in accordance with the access policies of the agreement, and executing a discovery process for discovering a MEC platform (208', 208) within the MEC stack (204', 204) of another tenant and establishing a communication link with said other tenant's MEC platform (208', 208).

Abstract: A method for enabling (virtualized) application functions ((V)AFs) to associate to underlying (virtualized) network functions ((V)NFs) is provided in a Network Function Virtualization (NFV) environment in which a lifecycle management (LCM) of the (V)AFs and its associations with the underlying (V)NFs and resources are managed by the NFV Management and Orchestration (MANO) system. A service request is validated by an NFV Orchestrator (NFVO) parsing an (V)AF Descriptor ((V)AFD) file within an (V)AF catalogue. An (V)AF Record ((V)AFR) instance is created having information useable to maintain a state and one or more associations of the respective (V)AF. The NFVO, in cooperation with a Virtualized Network Function Manager (VNFM), Virtualized Infrastructure Manager (VIM) and an underlying network controller of the NFV MANO system, establishes the association between the respective (V)AF and the respective underlying (V)NF(s) using the (V)AFD.
