Abstract:
A gateway node provides an interface connectivity between communication networks. The gateway node is configured to be operably connected to another gateway node as well as to a base station providing connectivity for a plurality of mobile terminals over a radio interface. Further, the gateway node is configured to send a first peer status report message indicating the respective status of a group of functions of the gateway node which are predetermined to be vital to an application connectivity over the gateway node of selected ones of said plurality of mobile terminals. The first peer status report message is sent periodically.
Abstract:
A system and method for providing improved broadband wireless gateway reliability. According to various embodiments of the present invention, a single monolithic gateway application is replaced with multiple instances. In this arrangement, each instance represents the entire gateway functionality. Because different instances are processing different packets with different timing, different database sizes, different mobility behavior, etc., the probability that a software failure will occur at the same time in multiple instances is low. Therefore, any software failure, occurring at any given point of time, will affect only a single instance of the gateway application.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus includes a transmitting unit configured to transmit a packet to a dedicated destination internet protocol address, wherein the packet includes a request with an emergency service indication. The mobile station also includes a receiving unit configured to receive an incoming packet for an emergency service call, wherein the incoming packet is destined to a source address of the mobile station and wherein the source address of one a designated IP address or a current IP address of the mobile station. The receiving unit is configured to receive the incoming packet through a service flow and the mobile station is thereby configured to minimize signalling with a network before the mobile station begins an emergency service call.
