Abstract: An isolated gate driver power supply device disclosed herein comprises an enclosure element configured to contain an electronic encapsulant material. The device further includes a first planar coil element situated in the electronic encapsulant material, a second planar coil element situated in the electronic encapsulant material, and a repeater coil element situated in the electronic encapsulant material. The repeater coil element is positioned in between the first planar coil element and the second planar coil element and is separated from the second planar coil element by a gap distance based on minimizing a coupling capacitance between the first planar coil element and the second planar coil element.

Abstract: A cascaded modular multilevel converter for medium-voltage power electronics systems is disclosed. The converter can be used in applications such as an auxiliary power supply for medium-voltage (MV) power electronics system, or a unidirectional SST which powers a home (where very light load conditions are experienced when the home is unoccupied or during the night). Unlike the traditional solutions which use a grid-frequency, bulky, and heavy power transformers, the disclosed converter can operate at higher switching frequencies, weigh less, and provide a higher power density than other approaches. Additionally, the disclosed converter features an internal capacitor voltage balancing and can achieve power factor correction (PFC) using predictive control.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a power transfer system. The power transfer system includes a receiver configured to wirelessly receive power for powering an electronic device, a power source, and at least one transmitter operably coupled to the power source for wirelessly transferring power generated by the power source. Wherein when the at least one transmitter is operably coupled to the receiver, the power source and the at least one transmitter operate together in a first mode such that the power source generates power at a first level and the at least one transmitter transfers the generated power to the receiver. Wherein when the at least one transmitter is not operably coupled to the receiver, the power source and the at least one transmitter operate together in a second mode such that the power source generates power at a second level lower than the first level or equal to zero and the transmitter does not wirelessly transfer power.

Abstract: Certain embodiments involve a modular medium voltage fast charger. The modular medium voltage fast charger can include: (1) a predictive power factor correction ("PFC") controller (or predictive controller) for series-interleaved multi-cell three-level boost ("SIMCB") converters, (2) an active neutral point clamped ("NPC") dual active bridge ("DAB") modulation scheme to achieve soft switching, (3) an auxiliary capacitor to reduce NPC DAB turn-off voltages, (4) a comprehensive and scalable protection circuit, and (5) a high-isolation pulse transformer with a bobbin for reducing coupling capacitance of the pulse transformer.
