Abstract: The compressor (1000) is used for processing a CO2 flow; a first compressor stage (200) has a first row of blades (250) with a first number of blades and a second compressor stage (300), downstream the first compressor stage (200), has a second row of blades (350) with a second number of blades; the number of blades of the first compressor stage (200) is less than the number of blades of the second compressor stage (300); there is an annular gap (400) between the first row of blades (250) and the second row of blades (350); the first compression stage (200) is designed so to assure that the CO2 flow is in supercritical condition, preferably close to CO2 critical point, at its outlet, and so that the second compressor stage (200) process CO2 in supercritical condition.

Abstract: A return channel (15) for a centrifugal turbomachine (1). The return channel includes a plurality of return channel vanes (15.1), arranged around a return channel axis (A- A). Each return channel vane (15.1) includes: a leading edge (15.3) at a first distance from the return channel axis (A- A), a trailing edge (15.5) at a second distance from the return channel axis, the second distance being smaller than the first distance. A respective flow passage is defined between each pair of adjacently arranged return channel vanes (15.1). The return channel vanes (15.1) are arranged with a non-constant pitch around the return channel axis (A- A).

Abstract: A novel diffuser (11) for a centrifugal turbomachine (1) to reduce or prevent stall. The diffuser includes diffuser vanes (11.1) arranged around a diffuser axis (A-A). Each diffuser vane (11.1) includes: a leading edge (11.3), a trailing edge (11.5), a suction side (11.7) facing radially inwardly, and a pressure side (11.9) facing radially outwardly. A respective flow passage is defined between the suction side (11.7) of a first diffuser vane (11.1) and the pressure side (11.9) of a second diffuser vane (11.1) of each pair of adjacently arranged diffuser vanes. The diffuser vanes (11.1) are arranged with a non-constant pitch around the diffuser axis (A- A). The pitch (S1, S2) between each pair of adjacently arranged first diffuser vane (11.1) and second diffuser vane (11.1) defining a respective flow passage therebetween is correlated to a chord of one of said first diffuser vane (11.1) and second diffuser vane (11.1).
