Abstract: A telephone system wherein a plurality of subscriber locations (12) are connected by signal processing circuits (18) to a single subscriber loop (16) to signal processing circuits (24) at the central office (14) for the transmission and reception of digital voice and data information. The signal process in circuits (18, 24) provide for assembly and disassembly of the information. Gateways (46, 47, 48, 49) are provided for each type of information to provide for the proper routing of the different types of information.
