Abstract: The invention relates to liquid barrier. A liquid barrier unit (10) comprises a hollow, elongate, deformable structure provided with an inlet valve (26) for the ingress of ballast, the liquid barrier unit being such that, when ballasted, the passage of liquid from one side of the liquid barrier unit to the other side is restricted. Means (16, 18) for detachable connection to one or more other liquid barrier units may also be provided. A plurality of liquid barrier units may be connected together to form a barrier system (30).
