Abstract: The described embodiments relate to systems, methods, and apparatuses for controlling a network of lights (120) according to whether people (122) who are observing the lights are visitors from a different location (108). Visitors can be identified by using network connection data (116, 208) that includes entries corresponding to personal devices of visitors to a city. The network connection data can be filtered to identify how many personal devices are associated with people visiting from a different city. If the number of visitors exceeds some threshold relative to non-visitors, a lighting arrangement in the city can be controlled to display features that would appeal to the visitors. The features can correspond to aspects of the city where the visitors are from and can therefore make the city more attractive.

Abstract: A method (400) for analyzing output of lighting units (10) in a lighting system (100) includes the steps of: (i) simulating (430), based on data from a photometric database (310), the output of a lighting unit; (ii) receiving and storing (420), from a database (330) of historical information, historical observed data about the output of the lighting unit; (iii) receiving (450) observed data (36) about the output of the lighting unit; (iv) generating (440) a model of the lighting system based at least in part on the simulated output of the lighting unit and the historical observed data about the output of the lighting unit, wherein the model comprises localization information for the lighting unit; and (v) comparing (470) the received observed data about the output of the lighting unit to the generated model, wherein a fault is detected if the observed data varies from the generated model by a predetermined amount.

Abstract: The described embodiments relate to systems, methods, and apparatuses for estimating luminance uniformity of streetlights (208, 302). Luminance uniformity is estimated using a vehicle (220, 312) that travels along a street (224, 310, 406) and collects RGB images (402, 404) of the street while the street lights are operating. The images can filtered according to usability for estimating luminance uniformity. Furthermore, when an image includes an obstruction that prevents the visibility of a surface of the street, the image can be segmented to identify and/or remove the obstruction. In order to complete the image of the surface of the street, another image can be re-arranged to create a composite information/image with portions of both the other image and the segmented image. Color data from the composite information/image can be mapped to tristimulus values for determining relative luminance from the color data, and ultimately be used generate a luminance uniformity estimate for the street lights.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method for processing a transaction among a plurality of network-enabled lighting devices. Each of the network-enabled lighting devices includes a light source and a control device configured to control the light source. The control device includes a blockchain stored therein and a reputation index associated with the blockchain. In one example, the method includes initiating a transaction from a first network-enabled lighting device to a second network-enabled lighting device, querying a reputation manager smart contract for a first reputation index of the first network- enabled lighting node, immediately processing the transaction, if the first reputation index is greater than a predetermined threshold value, and processing the transaction only after the transaction is added to the blockchain, if the first reputation index is not greater than the predetermined threshold value.
