    Abstract: It is disclosed an optical cable comprising an optical core and an external sheath surrounding the optical core, wherein the external sheath comprises an inner layer circumferentially enclosing the optical core and an outer layer circumferentially enclosing the inner layer and comprising at least one longitudinal cavity accessible from outside the external sheath and extending through at least a portion of the outer layer thickness. The inner and outer layers of the external sheath are made of a first material having a first tensile strength, while the cavities in the outer layer are filled with a second material having a second tensile strength lower than the first tensile strength.

    Abstract: It is disclosed an optical cable (1, 2, 3, 4) comprising an optical core (100, 200, 300, 400) and a sheath (101, 201, 301, 401) enclosing the optical core (100, 200, 300, 400). The optical core (100, 200, 300, 400) comprises a number of optical units (110, 210, 310, 410) having respective colors and being wound about a longitudinal axis of the cable (1, 2, 3, 4). The sheath (101, 201, 301, 401) comprises at least one non opaque longitudinal section (106, 206, 306, 406) through which a sequence of colors of the optical units (110, 210, 310, 410) is visible from outside the cable (1, 2, 3, 4). The color sequence acts as an identifier for the cable (1, 2, 3, 4). The cable (1, 2, 3, 4) may therefore be easily identified (e.g. amongst other cables laid down within the same duct) by a simple visual inspection of the cable's inner structure through the non opaque section(s) (106, 206, 306, 406) of its external sheath (101, 201, 301, 401).

    Abstract: A self-supporting overhead telecommunication/power cable (100) comprises a supporting portion (20) and a transmission portion (30) mutually arranged according to a figure-8 configuration. The transmission portion (30) comprises at a central position thereof, an optical fibre conductor (31) and, at a radially outer position with respect to the optical fibre conductor (31), electrical conductors (36) stranded around the optical fibre conductor (31).
