It is disclosed an optical fiber unit for air-blown installations comprising a number of optical conductors (2), a first layer (3i) of resin material, a second layer (3o) of resin material radially outer to the first layer (3i) of resin material and a sheath (4) of a thermoplastic material, wherein said second layer (3o) of resin material has a Secant Modulus higher than a Secant Modulus of said first layer (3i) of resin material and wherein said sheath (4) of a thermoplastic material is over and in close contact with said second layer (3o) of resin material.

It is disclosed an optical cable comprising a buffer tube(1) housing at least one optical fiber(2), a sheath (3) surrounding such buffer tube (1) and at least one longitudinal strength member (4) embedded in the sheath, in which at least one separation element (7) is provided between a portion of the outer surface of the buffer tube (1) and the inner surface of the sheath, laying in an axial plane (e) not containing the at least one strength member (4).
