    Abstract: An apparatus for wireless power transfer comprises a coupler having a first resistance and configured to generate a voltage under influence of a time-varying magnetic field generated by a wireless power transmitter. The apparatus comprises a rectifier circuit configured to rectify the voltage. The apparatus comprises a switching circuit coupled to an output of the rectifier circuit and having a first state and a second state. A first amount of power dissipated by at least the first resistance and the rectifier circuit in the first state and a second amount of power dissipated by at least the first resistance and the rectifier circuit in the second state. The apparatus comprises a controller configured to toggle the switching circuit between the first state and the second state. A difference between the second and first amounts of power is differentiable by the wireless power transmitter.
