Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a pre-5th-Generation (5G) or 5G communication system to be provided for supporting higher data rates Beyond 4th-Generation (4G) communication system such as Long Term Evolution (LTE). Embodiments herein disclose a method for handling handover by a UE (400). The method includes determining, by UE, whether a measurement ID of a first neighboring cell and a measurement ID of a second neighboring cell are same. If the measurement ID of the first neighboring cell and the measurement ID of the second neighboring cell are different, the method includes prioritizing sending of a measurement report of the first neighboring cell over a measurement report of the second neighboring cell to a serving cell. If the measurement ID of the first neighboring cell and the measurement ID of the second neighboring cell are same, the method includes splitting a measurement report for the first neighboring cell and a measurement report of the second neighboring cell and sending the measurement report of the first neighboring cell before the measurement report of the second neighboring cell.

Abstract: Embodiments herein provide a method for performing voice call performance by a user equipment (UE). A voice call is preferred for a cellular network over a Wi-Fi network, an IMS is registered over a 5G BS, the 5G BS is not supported for the voice call, and a Wi-Fi device and a 4G BS are supported for the voice call. The method includes: detecting an event related to the voice call; comparing signal strength of the Wi-Fi device and signal strength of the 4G BS; shifting an IMS registration from the 5G BS to the Wi-Fi device, upon determining that the signal strength of the Wi-Fi device is greater than the signal strength of the 4G BS; and initiating the voice call over the Wi-Fi device upon detecting a trigger for the voice call.

Abstract: A method for selecting cell using a fifth generation (5G) user equipment (UE) is provided. The method includes detecting an event, when the 5G UE is camped on a serving cell; detecting availability of one or more voice over new radio (VoNR) cells and one or more non-VoNR cells in vicinity of the serving cell in response to detecting the event; based on the event, performing one of (i) selecting a VoNR cell when only one VoNR cell is available, (ii) identifying and selecting a VoNR cell based on a plurality of cell parameters, when a plurality of VoNR cells are available, and (iii) identifying and selecting a non-VoNR cell from the one or more non-VoNR cells, based on the plurality of cell parameters, when one of the one or more non-VoNR cells is available.

Abstract: In an embodiment, a method for handling a data session associated with a 5G user equipment (UE). The method includes detecting a requirement to handover an on-going non-voice over new radio (non-VoNR) call and a data session from a non-5G cell to a 5G cell. The method includes sending a handover request for the on-going non-VoNR call to the 5G cell. The method includes detecting whether the non-VoNR call is handled by the 5G cell as a voice over NR (VoNR) call or not. The method includes performing one of sending a request to handover the data session from the non-5G cell to the 5G cell upon determining that the non-VoNR call is handled by the 5G cell as a VoNR call and delaying of sending a request to handover the data session from the non-5G cell to the 5G cell upon determining that the non-VoNR call is handled by the 5G cell using an EPSFB procedure.

Abstract: Methods and systems for ensuring continuity of services on handover from Wi-Fi to cellular networks. The embodiments allow a UE to seamlessly engage in a call during a handover, which is triggered on detecting that QoS of the call is less than a threshold within a coverage area of the Wi-Fi. The continuity of the call is ensured by triggering a handover from Wi-Fi to LTE and preventing handover from Wi-Fi to NR. The UE avails calling services using LTE and data services using NR, by enabling NSA mode. The UE is allowed to avail calling services seamlessly by initiating a handover of the calling services from Wi-Fi to LTE and avail data services seamlessly by initiating a handover of the data services from Wi-Fi to NR. The handover from Wi-Fi to LTE/NR is initiated if QoS of the calling/data services is less than a threshold in Wi-Fi coverage area.
