Abstract: Described herein is a system for a luminaire comprising a lighting unit connected to a luminaire power supply. A controller is provided for controlling the operation of a communication unit and a signalling unit in accordance with environmental parameters sensed by a sensor unit, the sensor unit generating an event signal when the environmental parameters exceed a predetermined threshold and a signalling unit providing an alarm.
