Abstract:
There is disclosed an array of ultrasonic delays and apparatus, which allow the use of off-the-shelf ultrasonic transducers (21) in explosive environments. The transducers (21) have a very fragile front surface, which is vulnerable to damage and exposure of the high voltage element. The delays (19) allow the transducers (21) to be mounted on the top of the delay (19) up inside a purged and pressurized enclosure. The delay (19) acts as a safety barrier to the explosive environment. The array (19) includes a unique mounting which allows the delays to be optimally focussed.

There is disclosed an anti-static, non-sparking coating that can be applied to various components such that the components may be safely used in explosive environments.
