Abstract:
Water-soluble polymers consist of (a) monoethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acids and/or their salts; (b) monoethylenically unsaturated monocarboxylic acids and/or their salts; (c) mono-unsaturated monomers that may be hydrolysed or saponified into monomers with a hydroxyl group covalently bound to the C-C chain; (d) monoethylenically unsaturated sulphonic acid or sulphate group containing monomers and optionally (e) other radically copolymerisable monomers, the sum of monomers (a) to (e) being equal to 100% by weight. Also disclosed is a process producing these polymers by radical polymerisation and hydrolysis in an aqueous medium, as well as the use of said polymers as additives or cobuilders in washing and cleaning agents, for the preliminary treatment of cotton, as bleach stabilisers, as textile printing auxiliary materials and for producing leathers, and also as water softeners, dispersants, and washing and cleaning agents.

The invention relates to super-absorbent, cross-linked polymerisates for aqueous liquids which comprise monomers carrying partially neutralised, monoethylenically unsaturated acid groups, optionally other monomers copolymerisable therewith and optionally polymers suitable as a graft base. Said polymerisates can be obtained using a cross-linkage/ monomer combination from I. CH2=CHR -CO-(OCHR -CHR )zO-CH2-CHR =CH2, II. CH2=CHR -R -(OCHR -CHR )vOR , III. R -[O(CHR -CHR O)u-CO-R ]x, and/or diallyl amine or triallyl amine and /or bisacrylamides, where R is a polyvalent C2-10-alkyl, R is a linear or branched C2-10 alkenyl, R is H, CH3, C2H5, R is H, linear or branched C1-10 alkyl, R is CO, CH2, R is H, CH3, x is 2-6, u is 0-15, v is 1-45.
