Abstract: The present invention includes compositions and method of selectively modulating an intramuscular adipose tissue in beef cattle by providing a beef cattle and providing a pharmacologically effective amount of one or more agents that interact with a GPR43 receptor in the beef cattle, wherein the one or more agents modulate the GPR43 receptor to preferentially enhance the development of an intramuscular adipose tissue in the beef cattle but has no effect on subcutaneous adipose tissue accumulation in the beef cattle.
