Abstract: Various embodiments of the present technology generally relate to stereotaxic devices. More specifically some embodiments relate to a robotic stereotaxic platform with computer vision to automatically and accurately position an animal subject into the proper position for a surgical procedure. A surgical procedure is required to precisely place electrodes, injection pipettes, optical fibers, or other device inside an animal subjects brain nucleus or other region of the brain to test functioning or experimentally manipulating the brain, or inside another part of the body. Improving the success rate of these surgical procedures reduces investigator time, reduces expenditure of supplies, and promotes scientific discovery resulting in better treatments for patients.
