Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to the use of a wetting agent such as a non-ionic wetting agent and a reagent comprising a thiocarbonyl functional group, for example, in a method/process or use for extracting a base metal such as copper from a material comprising the base metal. Such methods/processes can comprise contacting the material under acidic conditions with the wetting agent and the reagent comprising the thiocarbonyl functional group; and optionally recovering the base metal.

Abstract:
The invention provides sensing devices for measuring an electrochemical parameter in a reactor. The sensing devices include one or more electrodes, a fastener comprising a female part and a male part, a sealant inside an internal cavity of the male part, a spacer inside the internal cavity of the male part adjacent to and abutting the sealant, and a connector for connecting the spacer and the sealant. The male part, sealant and spacer include one or more channels through which one of the one or more electrodes passes.
Abstract:
Methods for in situ measurement of an oxidation reduction potential (ORP) and pH of a solution comprising iron are provided. The methods comprise measuring a kinetic parameter at an electrode surface of an electrode system comprising a working electrode, a counter electrode and a pseudo- reference electrode, wherein the kinetic parameter is associated with ferric reduction or both ferric reduction and ferrous oxidation and comparing the kinetic parameter to calibration data for the electrode system to determine the ORP and pH of the solution. Also provided are apparatus and systems for in situ measurement of an ORP and pH of a solution comprising iron. The apparatus and systems comprise an electrode system comprising a working electrode, a counter electrode and a pseudo-reference electrode and a detector for measuring a kinetic parameter at an electrode surface of the electrode system.
Abstract:
This application pertains to methods of recovering metals from metal sulfides that involve contacting the metal sulfide with an acidic sulfate solution containing ferric sulfate and a reagent that has a thiocarbonyl functional group, wherein the concentration of reagent in the acidic sulfate solution is sufficient to increase the rate of metal ion extraction relative to an acidic sulfate solution that does not contain the reagent, to produce a pregnant solution containing the metal ions.
