    Abstract: A device is provided for mounting a furniture unit (11) on a support rail (19) attached to a wall (18). The device comprises a bracket assembly (10) which attaches to the unit (11). The bracket assembly (10) has a rigid arm (15) with a hook (16) on the end which is lowerable onto the support rail (19). A locking lever (20) with a latching surface (26) is pivotally mounted on the rigid arm (15). The locking lever (20) is arranged so that when the bracket assembly (10) is lowered onto the support rail (19), the locking lever (20) will pivot so that its latching surface (26) will engage with a downwardly facing ledge (25) formed on the support rail (19). The bracket assembly (10) is thus automatically prevented from accidentally lifting off the support rail (19).

    Abstract: A hinge assembly comprises a toggle type hinge with an arm assembly (11) anchorable in use to a first member, and a hinge cup (12) pivotally connected to it and anchorable in use to a second member. The assembly is provided with a damping mechanism that is operable to produce a damped resistive force to the hinge over at least part of its closing movement. The damping mechanism is arranged to produce this damped resistive force via a plunger (21) acting on a body of damping fluid within a chamber (23). The plunger is actuated by a rotatable camming element (20) and is arranged to have a relatively short working stroke, but present a relatively large working surface area to the body of damping fluid.

    Abstract: A device is provided for forming a joint between two panels. The device comprises a fastening element in the form of an elongate dowel (14) within a sleeve (15), and a tightening element in the form of a rotatable cam (10). The dowel (14) has a head (16) at one end for engagement by the cam (10). At its other end, the dowel (14) engages with an expandable section (19) of the sleeve (15) for anchoring the fastening element in a hole in one of the panels.     Abstract: A hinge (10) is provided with two elements (12, 20) pivotally connected together for relative rotational movement about a hinge axis. The hinge has a spring (13) formed of bent wire. The spring is mounted on one of the elements and a mechanism causes it to apply a biassing force between the two elements over at least part of their relative rotational movement. The biassing force is transmitted via a finger (19) on the spring. A spreader (24) is arranged to fit over the finger for engagement with the other element. The spreader extends continuously over the finger and engages substantially the whole of it.
