Abstract:
Thie invention relates to a novel asymmetrical, secondary dialkylamine-based molybdenum dithiocarbamate with improved friction reducing performance, viscosity and solubility, and lubricating compositions containing the same. The compounds are produced from asymmetrical dialkylamine of the formula R1-NH-R2 where Rl and R2 are different, and are independently selected from alkyl groups C3 to C 19. In a preferred embodiment, R3 and R4 are different and are independently selected from alkyl groups C3 to C 19. The molybdenum dithiocarbamates can be represented by the following formula.
Abstract:
A dithiocarbamate compound of the formula (I), (II) and (III), wherein for formula (I), R1 and R2 are the same or different and represent alkyl groups, branched or straight chain, having 1 to 13 carbon atoms, R3 and R4 are the same or different and represent hydrogen, boric acid ester residue or mixtures thereof, and wherein for formulas (II) and (III), R1 and R2 are the same or different and represent alkyl groups, branched or straight chain, having 1 to 13 carbons atoms. Also contemplated are dithiocarbamate compounds formed from the reaction of the dithiocarbamate compound of formula (I) where R3 and R4 are hydrogen with boric acid. The dithiocarbamate compounds are used as part of lubricant composition containing a base oil.
Abstract:
An additive for imparting antiwear properties to a lubricant composition is based on a combination of (1) an organo borate ester composition and (2) one or more sulfur-or phosphorus-containing compounds or a non-sulfur molybdenum compound. The sulfur-or phosphorus-containing compounds are dithiocarbamate, bisditiocarbamate, 1,3,4-diathiazole, phosphoroditioate, phosphoroditioate esters, and the molybdenum compound is prepared by reacting (a) about 1.0 mole of fatty oil having 12 or more atoms (b), about 1.0 to 2.5 moles diethanolamine and (c) a molybdenum source.
Abstract:
Disclosed are antioxidant compositions comprising of: (I) an organomolybdenum compound; (2) an alkylated diphenylamine; and (3) a sulfur compound selected from the group consisting of: (a) thiadiazole; (b ) dithiocarbamate; and (c) mixtures of (a) and (b).
